We’ll claim it straight up—there’s no such thing as a dried-up imagination, just a
mind in need of a good nudge. Our team built a collection of prompts and exercises
that get us moving again whenever the words start to stall. They’re designed to work
whether you’ve got five minutes or a whole afternoon, and you won’t need anything
fancier than paper, a pen, and a little willingness to surprise yourself. Each
prompt is crafted to draw out unexpected details, twist a familiar idea, or force a
character to make a tough choice. We treat writing as a playground, not a test—and
you’re invited to join in.
Clashing Motives
Write a scene where two characters want the same thing but for completely
different reasons. Let their goals clash in a subtle way—think over dinner
or during a walk—so the tension simmers beneath the surface.
Fresh Eyes
Describe a place from the perspective of someone seeing it for the first
time. Focus on sensory details: what smells, sounds, and colors stand out?
How does your character’s mood shape what they notice?
Letters Unfiltered
Set a timer for seven minutes. Write a letter from your main character to
someone they secretly admire—or secretly resent. Don’t edit or overthink,
just let their voice spill out and see what surprises you.
